ABOUT

I am an actor and multidisciplinary performance and creative artist working across visual art, acting, writing, directing and facilitation. Currently based in Sunderland in the North East of England.

With a background in acting and studies in the arts and humanities, storytelling forms the foundation of my practice. Creating rich, engaging depictions of the world through experimental and interdisciplinary approaches, exploring the complexities, contradictions, and possibilities of the human condition.

My work challenges and questions the systems that shape contemporary life. Moving between experimental and conventional approaches, traditional narratives and revolutionary, showing art can exist across many forms and experiences.

I am consistently exploring themes of gender, womanhood, community, capitalism, ownership, religion, politics, philosophy, love, grief, sexuality, transcendence, the soul, and the search for freedom. Cultural representations of what it means to exist in a world full of both abundance and contradiction. Increasingly, I am fascinated by presentations of the human body in visual and written modes, ranging from mental health, liberal sexualisation to social taboos, silenced experiences or hidden narratives of the abject.

I am interested in creating scenarios that disrupt traditional ideas of value or morality. That feel transcendent or transformational for reflection and representation. Rather than offering simple answers I am interested in work that invites audiences to question their own assumptions about beauty, identity, value.

As a neurodivergent epileptic artist my perspectives and different ways of interpreting the world are imbedded in my everything. As is my working-class Northern roots which shape a passion for the voices of those who are often unheard.
